Generic Description:

Period: Late Period from 1800.

Escapement: Crownwheel and Verge with balance spring.

Power Source: Mainspring.

Construction: Similar mechanism to Makura-dokei but enclosed within a bell rather than a glazed wooden cases. Normally have ‘waricoma’ dial with movable hour markers around chapter ring.Kane-dokei strike on the inside of the host bell, rather than an attached bell of other Wadokei.

Kane-dokei were primarily used be priests in temples.
